Early summer brings a whole energy and freshness about it that I love. The lighter evenings extend the day and mean I get to spend more time enjoying the outdoors. I’m very easy to please. I like poppies, buttercups, bluebells and forget-me-nots. I find the odd moment to grab a drink and sit outside when the sun is shining, and the village Peacock Livingstone, and my two cats keep me company.
There is a simple wonder in creation that calms my soul. The colours, textures and sounds all work together and make me grateful that I live in such an amazing place in Suffolk. Just recently, I have installed an app on my phone called “Merlin”, which listens to bird song and helps me identify the birds in my garden. Robins and blackbirds are certainly very vocal. I have had up to 13 varieties in one sitting, all singing together, creating quite a melody.
The beauty, variety and sound of nature lead me to believe that it couldn’t all be accidental, and there is a creator who purposely put together colours, sounds and life to give us our amazing countryside. It was His gift for us to enjoy, and whether it be sitting in the garden, eating ice cream, paddling at the beach or walking in your village, I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy our amazing area this summer.
